Your Opinion, Rewarded

Be Your Own Boss, By Being Your Own Boss

Many people work on their side gig from home. It’s important in todays day and age to be your own boss. If you’ve found your way here, we bet you’re interested in earning money, and completing surveys for rewards is one of many ways to add a little to your income.

Working in what is still considered an unconventional setting can be a challenge, especially for those amongst the new workforce at home.

Be your own boss

Why Do You Want to Be Your Own Boss?

Your own boss? How great is that? With a business in the home, you call the shots. You enjoy less stress, realize your self-worth and abilities when you are your own boss. You can work from home and leave work at work. There is so much satisfaction of realizing that you are capable of doing anything you put your mind to. Don’t waste another day working for someone else’s success when you have the power to be your own boss!

How to be Your Own Boss

Whether you are just starting out on your own or have been working the 9-to-5 routine for a while, being your own boss can seem like a daunting task. But no matter what your circumstances are right now, becoming an entrepreneur will offer you more independence and control over your life.

Ask yourself, are you being paid what you are really worth? If your answer is no, then maybe it’s time to start your own business. Take your career into your own hands!  With the flexibility of working from home and more time for yourself, you can step out on a new path. Find yourself again, take charge of your future and enjoy life.

Tips for Being Your Own Boss and Maintaining Focus

We have gathered a few true tips for finding your balance and maintaining your productivity while enjoying your natural surroundings.

Stick to a Schedule

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking “as long as I get in 8 hours, I’m good,” and leave too much wiggle room in your start and end times. An easy trap to fall into is completing home tasks during what should be work hours. Don’t do the laundry, wash the dishes, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the living room using the justification that you’re “right there” so you have time. Don’t run 2 hours of errands when you should be working. Even if you commit to those 8 hours a day, do you really want those 8 hours to be from 3pm to 11pm?

Decide what hours you will commit to work to be your own boss.

Set Up a Dedicated Work Space (That Isn’t Your Spot on the Couch)

While you may not have the extra room to make into an office, endeavor to find a space you can set up a desk or table you can work at. Don’t consider your couch, or worse yet, your bed to be your work space. By having a dedicated space, you train your mind to focus and commit while sitting there. Only do work there and educate those who live with you that when you are there, you are working.

Dress for Success

Okay, we’re not saying you should be in a suit and tie, or that snappy pantsuit you know you look great in; what we’re saying is don’t work in your pajamas. This aligns with point 2 of not working on the couch or in bed. Get showered and dressed. Brush your hair. Refresh yourself and step away from the slumbering you of the night before, and dive into working you.

Besides, you never know when you’ll get the “We need a video conference in 5 minutes” email.

Don’t Skimp on Legitimate Breaks

Just like when working in an office, you need to get up and move every once in a while to maintain productivity and clarity of thought. Set an alarm on your phone, or a reminder on your personal fitness tracker, to get up and move. Is there a great Thai place a short walk away? Go there for lunch. Stretch your legs, nourish your body, and refresh your mind with a walk and lunch.

Pay attention to yourself. Notice when words start to be nonsensical because you lost your focus as your own boss. Notice when your back gets stiff from not moving. Those aren’t the signals to say “I’ll take a break now.” Those are the signals that say “I should have take a break 20 minutes ago,” and adjust accordingly.

You Are Not an Island

Don’t fall into the trap of losing all socialization. Being your own boss doesn’t mean you to shut yourself out from the world.Especially if you work at home full time. If you work for an employer, make a plan to be “in the office” so many times a month so you get that face-to-face time with other adults (not just your local barista who knows your order on sight).

If you work for yourself, it’s even more important to get out of the house. Can you visit clients or vendors? Can you knock on some doors? If not, if your entrepreneurial efforts don’t need that kind of boots on the ground focus, then go back to #4. Take a walk and discover restaurants and cafes in your area. Strike up a conversation at the post office. Visit your mom after work. Just be sure you don’t become a hermit.

When you sign into your dashboard, next to the word PointBank you will see an arrow pointing right. Clicking on that will open your PointBank details. Click on the “Set Your Goal” tab. Here you can select your redemption goal, and click through the gift card options to find the one you would like to receive.

    1. Good morning!

When you sign into your PointClub account, you will see your PointBank balance information on the left margin. Beside it is a double arrow. By clicking on that you will open your PointBank information. The first tab is titled “Set Your Goal.”

From here you can set your redemption target, and you can scroll through the list of available gift cards at that target level. Just click on the one you’d like and it will be set as your redemption option.

Card choices and targets can be changed at any time right up until redemption.

    1. Good morning

Completing surveys online should always be considered a means of earning some additional income, but there is no guarantee as to daily earning potential.

  15. After having been WFH for almost a year, I’ve learned these rules are imperative to be successful

  16. I struggle with many health issues including copd and heart failure so I do not make it on everyday, but still love PointClub because it is so easy and fun to earn rewards while at the same time giving your opinion on various topics.

  17. I newly signed up with pointclub, although i admit that my main reason for joining here is to add up some extra income for my children, i am pleased to find out that there is more to it than just earning few extra bucks. I like solving quizzes like odd one out and reading small articles like “Maintaining focus as your own boss” it has refreshed my mindset and helped me to review my goal to become an online worker. I chose to leave my 9pm-6am office routine to have more time and focus on my children. I appreciate sites like this. I hope pointclub continues to grow.

  18. Point Club is the best! Take ur time, be honest! U will see point club is such a great site!

  20. I love doing online surveys and in some cases I not only earn extra cash or gift cards but get to try new products. Most recently I got a free vacuum cleaner to keep from Schlesinger Associates. It is a Dyson Shark and I love it. All I had to do was write a review about it.

  21. Still, skeptical regarding these surveys always want to purchase something I am in ths for additional income

  22. This is one of the better survey sites out there. I’ve been a member for under 6 months and have earned at least $100 so far. I belong to a few different panels and currently have over $1000 in Amazon & PayPal credits & I’ve already made plenty of purchases… definitely can’t earn a living & won’t pay the rent but sure helps out for Birthdays & Christmas…

  23. I do surveys and have joined Point Club to give my opinion and find new things. I try to spell words correctly, use punctuation and grammar correctly and use all forms of media, social, print, and internet versions of print, television, and radio. The paper news and entertainment forms are as relevant today as always. Thank you for letting me be in this community.
